Tiree Community Gym

ISLE OF TIREE

COMMUNITY GYM

Isle of Tiree Community Gym is a project run by volunteers, which aims to boost physical health, mental health and community spirit on the small island of Tiree, the outermost of the Scottish Inner Hebrides. It is a not-for-profit, easily accessible, affordable, and inclusive indoor fitness facility for all.

Located in An Talla, the local community hall, the gym provides a broad range of equipment in a permanent location for use by members, and also enables and supports local fitness instructors to provide classes and personal training. Equipment has low or zero power usage, with environmental awareness in mind, and to keep overheads to a minimum.

The gym will be financially self-sustaining, but required initial funding of around £60k to purchase equipment and cover start-up costs. This was raised through a combination of grant funding, donations and local fundraising. We are very grateful for the support of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Community Led Local Development Fund, First Port, the Coop, the Tiree Trust, and all the local businesses & trades who gave (and continue to give) their assistance.

We are confident that with enthusiastic community support, this project will establish a successful, sustainable, and vital resource. Hopefully the gym can make a valuable and enduring impact on the wellbeing of a small island community.

How to join Isle of Tiree Community Gym

Step 1

Create an account

Go to https://tireegym.clubright.co.uk/register

You'll have to give your details, create a password, agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy and fill out a PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)

Step 2

Select a membership plan

Please note that the initial payment of the Standard Plan must be made immediately by card or apple/google pay, but future monthly payments will be made by direct debit.

The Short Term Plan only requires a single payment which must be made with card/google/apple pay.

Step 3

Download an app called Clubright

from the App Store/Google Store, and log into the app with your email address and password.

Step 4

Book an induction

Before using the gym you must have an induction, and you can book one now using the 'Make a Booking' section of the app.

Step 5

Make sure you’ve got some indoor only trainers.

To protect the equipment and flooring, you must only use trainers which aren’t used outside. Bring your clean shoes with you: there’s a seat in the corridor where you can change footwear, and places to hang your coat and leave your outdoor shoes.

Step 6

Start using the gym

After completing the induction, you can now use the app to access the gym (using the 6 digit membership number or QR code). You can also use the app to book classes, manage your membership, and check how busy the gym is.
